Advent greetings with a personal review of the year on art and law

A great year of art 2018 is drawing to a close.

One highlight was certainly the international 20th Birthday Conference

Fittingly I add my current practical guide for dealing with looted art in Germany.

An auction of a very special kind we were able to experience at Sotheby's in autumn,
in which, quite by chance, half of a Banksy was shredded after being knocked down.
This was a special kind of happening, which only has winners.
The happy buyer will certainly not assert any warranty claims due to material defects.

In New York, the lawsuit for the return of the Guelph treasure has been admitted.
The court already assumes for its international jurisdiction that an unlawful transaction is
of the Jewish merchant consortium in connection with the genocide must be present - otherwise it would be
Internationally not responsible. There is a nasty suspicion of a forced sale. Here it is 5 to 12
and I hope for a balanced solution. You too?

I warmly recommend the beautiful publication "The art remains" from the BBK in Bavaria.

The aim is to establish a centre for the adequate care of the important Bavarian artists' estates.

We all hope for much encouragement and support in this important voluntary work.
